May 31, 2017 · Well, it could be firewall related network location awareness on the SMTP server may not know where it is due to the bad dns and is choosing the wrong firewall profile, assuming it's Windows server. If you can't telnet to it that would be my wager on what the issue is. Check your local firewall settings, check your antivirus software (it may block SMTP ports). Also check your Internet router, because some include a list of "safe" outgoing mail servers that you might to need to add yours to.
